Tyto alba or barn owl is one of the most common bird species, as well as being the most common species. It is classified in the family of barn owls (Tytonidae) of the order of night predators (Strigiformes). They live all over the world except the poles, deserts, north of the Himalayas in Asia, many parts of Indonesia and some Pacific Islands.
Phylogenetic evidence shows that there are three main lines of barn owls, one in Eurasia and Africa, one in Australasia, and the other in America. There are also quite different taxa on the islands. Although there is a wide variety in size and color among about 28 subtypes, most of them are between 33 and 39 cm in length. The wing widths are between 80 and 95 cm. Head and back hairs are in shades of gray and brown. The lower hairs are between white and brown and sometimes have dark spots. Their faces are clearly heart-shaped and covered with white feathers in many subtypes. It makes a scary and long-lasting scream.
